Yours is a Rev B, right?
Nope. My Bondi Blue was purchased on the first day the original iMacs went on sale, so it's a Rev A.
Others are suggesting that the early Rev A iMac may not be consistent in terms of what RAM they will recognize. Others have suggested I may strictly have a problem with having purchased either wrong or poor quality RAM SIMMs on eBay. One thing I suppose I COULD do is to swap out the two 256 Meg SIMMs which are working fine in my 333 Mhz iMac and try them in my 233 Mhz Bondi Blue Rev A iMac. If they don't work, I think I might just conclude that this particular iMac really is limited to recognizing a maximum of 129 Megs of RAM from each SIMM, for a max total possible of 256.
Jim, I too have a Rev A. purchased August 15th 1998, first day they were releases officially. I have 64 in the bottom, and 256 in the top for a total recognized 320 Meg. I can't remember all the sequences of installs I have done, but is it possible there is a firmware update you may have missed. Without pulling the sled out of it, again, I can't tell you what the manufacturer of the Ram is, but I know it wasn't crucial. Being a cheap bastard myself it must have been one of the least expensive. I have since put a 333 MOBO in it. It runs 10.2.8, but I understand it will run Panther.
Just my two bits.
