I know this is the wrong forum to ask this question, but I don�t know who else to ask. In Turkey, my wife bought a well made commercial DVD of a popular Turkish movie called Visontele that is in PAL format. She was able to play the movie on a DVD player in a Smart Classroom at the University of Iowa, but I was unable to attend. I tried to watch it on my 1.25 GHz 20� iMac, but every time I put the DVD in the SuperDrive and iDVD started up (automatically) and it began to show the movie (only the copyright warning), it crashed the computer. So, I tried again by quitting iDVD as soon as it started up, and this time the computer did not crash. Then I used MacTheRipper 1.5.6 to copy the movie to my hard drive with the region removed, which it did successfully (not knowing at this point that it was a PAL formatted movie, and that was probably what was crashing my iMac � I�m a video newbie). But, it still crashes when I try to play the movie from my hard drive. So my question is this: Is there any software available (preferably freeware) that will convert a PAL DVD movie on my hard drive to NTSC format or that will play a PAL formatted movie on Panther? I couldn�t find anything on VersionTracker, and I�m not even sure if it�s possible to convert a PAL movie to NTSC.
