Faxing on the iMac has nothing to do with your Internet connection. It's done entirely through the phone lines INDEPENDENT of it. The iMac's modem simply duplicates standard fax protocols and allows your computer to call a fax machine the same way a stand alone fax machine would.

No, you can receive them on ANY phone line the computer is connected to, so long as FaxSTF is set up to receive. All anyone has to do is call the phone line you have the computer hooked to with a fax machine and FaxSTF will do the rest.
I've never actually USED FaxSTF, I'll admit, but this is my understanding from those who have.
