My sister has an iMac DV 400Mhz. She has had intermittent shutdown problems, as in not shutting down and just spinning pizza-ing her.

It has 256Mb Ram, running 10.3.3 (I will burn 10.3.4 update and install it later, she has internet over Airport then through my iMac and I don't want...well...meh!)

Anyways, She doesn't use it heavily, tends to turn it on about 4:00/4:30 ish and leave it on till about 10:00 when she goes to bed. I told her never to leave it running when not using it, it will overheat so she puts it to sleep when not in use. I have come in now and then just to check its not overheating or anything and I can't feel any heat.

Unfortunately I can't downgrade it to an earlier version of OS X because I only have 10.3 on CD, I have 10.2.3 but its a Restore DVD for my iMac 1Ghz (17") and won't work in the iMac DV, the only lower disc that will is OS 9 and I'm not going to do that.

It is important that this gets solved. I only just got her to have the iMac rather than the PC, then I get from her, "You go on and on about how windows is s**te and the mac is no better!" I then shouted loudly that no computer is perfect, its just that macs are better...her PC couldn't stop shutting down!

Thanks muchly,
Dan
