Subject: Looking for good scanner

My old HP 3500c scanjet just died on me and I need a new one. I need
to be able to scan reliably at 400-600 dpi and am wondering if anybody
can recommend a scanner of reasonable price and size.

I was looking at the Canon Lide series but have read mixed reviews on
compatibility with OS X and need to be able to scan objects for
Photoshop from time to time. Otherwise, I love the size and
portability of the Lide scanners.

Any suggestions ? Anything in the $100-200 CDN range would be great.

Thanks,

Amber

I just picked up a LiDE 30 from Amazon, Canon is currently offering a $30 rebate on the LiDE models (at least in the US). If you have Photoshop you will be fine, since it seems to want to see that before installing properly into OSX. After that, you can use nearly any graphic program to do the import (it doesn't just create a file to the desktop). I currently use PhotoStudio for the scans.
I did download the latest driver from Canon rather than using the installer CD that came with the scanner. I also like the size, it's just barely bigger than my Tibook.
