I've used it, all it does is shows a 2nd monitor that is exactly the same as the iMac CRT. At least on the iMac DV SE (400 MHz slot load), I'm not aware of any way to turn off the internal CRT. I use the video mirroring in conjunction with an NTSC Scan converter to do quick posting of video to VHS or VCD (I own a stand alone VCD burner which is MUCH faster then letting the iMac render a VCD). I do seem to recall seeing a web site somewhere that had a hack to disable the internal video on some iMac models. I don't recall which ones you could do it with (other than you could not with my model).
