First, the OS X disk is un-needed if he is only after OS 9 and has the disk for that. So there for, like I said, the OS X disk is of no use for what he wants to do. Second, assuming that since he lacks the OS X disk right now means he stole the OS 9 disk is just a bad assumption. There are pleanty of legit reasons to not have the matching OS X disk. He could have lost or misplaced it. He could have purchased the OS 9 disk and since he already had OS X didn't bother with that disk as well (the license IS transferable, go ahead and read it). He could have broken the OS X disk. He could have bought the iMac used and it never came with the OS X disk. I don't have the original email here to double check, but ISTR that he stated he has the OS 9 disk that came with his iMac, but lacks the OS X disk right now. I take that as "I have no idea where that CD went that came with my computer" And Third... it isn't my place to worry about if he has a legit copy of the OS or not. He asked how to get OS 9 installed, I told him a method that uses the items he has. If he stole or "aquired" the software, that is up to him to deal with any ramifications for having done so. It isn't my problem, nor will I refuse to give him advice on those grounds. -chris <http://www.mythtech.net> -- The iMac List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
