I have purchased a 250GB external firewire drive to use exclusively with iMovie (and Final Cut Express?) DV files -- I want to import the video from the camera to this HD and to save the projects on it, also -- in such a way that my startup drive will be used only for running the application(s). Should I make a scratch partition on the external drive to use as indicated by Kim? If so, how large should it be?
