Oops.. maybe I should have been a bit clearer... from a MIXED network of PC's and Macs, how would I do a PC to Mac transfer. No drag and drop available between the two . (at least not that I can find an icon to drop to....)

Should there be an icon for all computers hooked up to the router?

It depends on what version of windooze, what Mac OS, but it has been possible fora long time. Sharing has to be enabled on the Mac and windooze machines. Go to http://www.macwindows.com/ and you'll find tutroials and discussions. Apple's own KB has excellent instructions on sharing with windooze. Once you get it set up you can keep sharing folder on the windooze desktop and a shared disk on the mac desktop, and it is truly no more complicated than drag and drop at that point.

Mac's with OS X and Rendezvous (or whatever it's new name is) can find each other automatically on a LAN. Windooze needs a little assistance but it's perfectly possible to have them all play nice together.
