Not a new email address, but he DOES need to have an address set up in 
AIM (AOL Instant Messenger). In other words, he should log into AIM, 
pick a screen name and then log out. You should then be able to add 
his AIM screen name and add it to your iChat buddy list. Your regular 
email address is not enough. You have to sign in to AIM and be 
assigned a screen name.

For example, my email address is [EMAIL PROTECTED], but my AIM 
screen name is kmart3434. I do not have an account with AOL, but you 
do need to give them info when they assign you a screen name.

I hope this makes it clearer for you.
