Since there has been no reply to my previous query, I thought I'd add the following titdbits: 1. The tech at Compusa said it was probably the RAM I had them add when I bought the thing a year ago, it was PNY RAM, which will probably mean that Applecare doesn't cover the repair. 2. The 8 Way Random Write Format erase option takes a looong time. That's the best I can come up with as I walked away and left the thing to run it course overnight and part of the day. It was done when I returned, so it could have been anywhere from 8 to 20 hours.
