I just bought a Maxtor 200GB drive ($99) and put it into a new MacAlly 100AF Firewire case. However, I can't get it to mount on the desktop of my G4 iMac nor does it show up in Disk Utility. Have I wasted my money? I thought that I could partition it into two 100GB partitions and use one as a back-up for my G4 iMac and the other for my G4 Powerbook.

Is the hard drive serial ATA or ultra ATA? My understanding is that serial ATA might not work with some computers.
