Ok, since it is a tray load, you could get a USB KVM switch box, and a RGB to VGA adaptor (reverse of normal, you want to go from VGA signal to RGB monitor... they exist, they are just a little harder to locate). Open the bottom of the iMac, disconnect the RGB video cable from inside. Connect the adaptor, and then run a VGA cable from it out the back (you likely have to notch the case so you can put it back together). Connect that cable to the KVM's monitor port. Connect the keyboard and mouse to the KVM, then run each of the KVM outputs to the iMac and the Mac Mini. Power up the iMac to give the CRT power, switch to the iMac side of the KVM, and it should work fine. Then switch over to the Mac Mini side of the switch and power it up, and you should see the Mac Mini video on the iMac's CRT. But I really have to admit, this is probably more work then driving around your neighborhood on curbside pickup night and grabbing a PC monitor that someone is throwing out. It wouldn't take me more than a week of searching to turn up at least a 15" model around here.
