I have four WD HDs. One 80 GB and one 120 GB in my Quicksilver 733,
one 120 GB in my Grape 333 iMac and one more 120 in an OWC
Firewire-USB 2 external. The oldest is over one year old and is used
daily, the others are used frequently. So far, so good.
I sincerely hope your problem is an anomaly.
