Try a different USB port too.
or try wiggling the cord, it might be a short in the cord. that's what
happened to a friend's mouse.
Also try cleaning it - the optics (or ball), the USB plug and sockets.
If the above doesn't work, try borrowing a mouse from someone. If
that fixes, then you know your mouse is foo.
...Something about the USB mice. Even the ones that cost $60+ -
they're just not as well made as our old ADB's were! My housemates
have killed off three mice in two years, and I just killed one. Not
quite up to our cat's quota, but still...
