Hi Mike,

The external drive is a great idea. I have an Iomega 52X USB 2 drive I use with most of my Macs and my peecees. Real handy in a Mac/pc household. Of course the Iomega is an odd beast and I have to use Patchburn, but it works quite well.

For speakers, I use a set of Labtechs with a 20 watt subwoofer and 5 watt flat panel satellites. Originally cost me 'bout $30. Sounds better than my (not terribly expensive) component stereo system.

Hi Chris:

Yes to the below mentioned. It might make sense to get a external
CD burner drive. ( The techie did suggest that, too.) Maybe I will.

I believe that there is still life in this aging iMac. Good years yet
to come.

Thanks,

P.S. Any sugestions on the speakers?
