Absolutely Jim, but for just a CD burner, USB is okay. I do have an external
firewire for booting, if needed.

When I got my USB drive, it was a dirt cheap clearance item, way cheaper
than anything firewire. But just recently I put together a 100GB
firewire/usb 2.0 drive for under $70.
