If you find a solution to this, let me know. I have a Rev A Bondi that does the same thing. All I have to do is type mac-boot and it boots fine, but for some reason it always goes to open firmware instead of booting.
I'm pretty sure it reports the same error as you see.

Why didn't you use XPostFacto?

Panther will run on a 333 iMac- all be it slowly- my daughter had it running on hers- big factor is amount of installed RAM, and HD space/speed. We relpaced her HD with a larger, faster one, and increased RAM to 384 MB, and it ran reasonably. I suspect more RAM would be better, (512) but is that model worth adding $300.00+ in RAM? (She now has an iBook 14" G4)

YMMV,
Pete
