I have a 700 MHz G4 eMac that I just installed Ubuntu 9.10 on. It installed with no problems, I only had to work around the known issue of getting the Nvidia graphics to work, post-installation. Everything else worked out-of-the-box: mouse, keyboard, sound, firewire, and even Airport; albeit slightly crippled.. the *nix Airport driver doesn't support WPA so it can't connect to my Airport Express unit.
I installed Ubuntu just for fun (computer hobbyist) and it runs just fine on this old eMac. It is currently dual-booting with Tiger since Leopard ran too slow for me even with RAM maxed out at 1 GB. - Tim -- You received this message because you are a member of the iMac Group, a group for those using Apple iMacs and eMacs.
