Seems kind of strange to make something that close to CD size but not
quite. And there was no note about it (that I noticed) at the download
site.
Even more strange, ubuntu does it again with early releases of 10.04 on
x86 (apparently the ppc version isn't out yet). This time there is a
note saying it is a "bug" and to use dvd or usb install.
I backed up to 9.04 because it fits on a cd. Installed onto the imac
just fine. From there i can apparently upgrade to 9.1 (though i haven't
tried yet). No video issues at all on this nvidia chip! But... I'd like
to learn one i could eventually put on a TiBook. Booting my 550mhz from
the live cd only gave me grayscale gibberish. Can't even begin to
install or configure. Bummer.
Did you try the suggestion at the second boot screen:
live video=fdonly
(If memory serves)
I had to do this on my Sawtooth.
I finally got ubuntu to boot from the HD on it. Oddly I did it by
adding the "-b" option to boot line. This is supposed to make it go
into single user mode but I'm getting the full GUI or so it seems.
