Hi all!

I'm a new-comer to this list. I operate a small web hosting service, and am
evaluating IMail as a replacement for our current mail server, and I have a
question or two for those of you who have "been there, done that". I'm
really impressed with the brief walkthrough I've taken of the evaluation
product, and am pretty sure we're going to transition to IMail.

First of all, I should state that we charge differently than many providers,
in that we only charge for storage space and transfer utilized. So, it is
important that I be able to accurately account for usage, including e-mail.

I really want to be able to set up the IMail web interface to run on port
80, because we do have customers behind firewalls who have difficulty with
the administrative interface to our current server running on a different
port. The only solution I see is to run a dedicated IMail server for mail
(would be nice if the web interface could listen to port 80 on a single IP).
This is what I'd prefer to do, but I'm concerned about accounting for usage.
Currently, we run mail services on each web server, and account for usage
via SNMP and the IP monitoring features of our routers. However, with a
dedicated mail server, I suppose we would have to combine this with mail
server logging. Can anyone tell me if the logging provided by IMail can
accurately account for mail transfer, to include bytes transfered via SMTP,
POP3, IMAP *and* via the web mail interface? Of course the mail sent via
the web interface would be logged, but what about the HTML traffic?

Second, does anyone know of a pre-written script which can take an IIS
server and create IMail hosts for each domain, or at least create a file I
can use with adddomain.exe? Something like this would save me a great deal
of time in a future transition.

Finally, is there anything I should be concerned about with the handling of
mail for subdomains? We have customers who choose to host a site on a
subdomain of our domain, rather than register their own domain. I'm sure
IMail can handle mail.subdomain.ourdomain.com and mail.ourdomain.com just
fine, but I wonder if there are any special DNS considerations or gotchyas
to look for?

Thanks in advance!
