Got any enemies? Sounds like a DoS attack. That would slow things down
without cranking the processor...
Have you used a sniffer to watch the traffic to that box? Try TCPView from
www.sysinternals.com or just type netstat.exe with the "refresh" switch to
view connections. I had a loser having fun with my SMTP box for a day. He
was just opening up sessions and sending NOOP's all day. I had my router
block the whole class C for a couple of days and I guess he felt thwarted
and went away. You can use one of the tools I mentioned above to see if you
have a lot of connections open to the same IP. Hope that helps.
