It's seems to be a business model based on "greed" rather than trying to produce such a great product that they make more money due to higher volumes of sales. iMail's a great product as evidenced by us all being here. But the value is not justified at whacky prices that are not inline with the competition. I bought SmarterMail though only use it for a backup to send non local email tests and also just in case I need to migrate to another program. It's a very bad sign that so many of us are looking at the competition.

The bottom-line as I see it is that it's 10 times harder to get a new client than keep a current one. If people shopping for an email server can not find parity in price to feature list in iMail ipswitch will eventually fail. It is far simpler to focus on quality, price at a more fair pricing model and make the big bucks because you've done good work and outsell the competition on such merit. Just raising the prices will come back to bite you in the butt and you could loose everything.

Not pleased to hear that ipswitch changed their Collaboration effort at striking it rich to just raising the price on SAs... It looks like their business model is putting them in a very dangerous long term position.

This is odd... I responded to Bill privately, and he quoted me pricing on the new SA. I guess that I can understand why he doesn't want to post the
prices on this list though. It would just touch off a new firestorm of
criticism, and rightfully so.

I won't disclose the pricing that he revealed to me privately for the
unlimited SA. Let's just say that those of you who were insulted by
Ipswitch's price gouging on ICS will be similarly insulted by the skyrocket price of the new Imail unlimited SA. If you hurry, you can still get the unlimited SA for the bargain price of $695. Trust me, it's a mere pittance compared to the new 2006 SA prices. Too bad, they almost had me back for a minute. I don't envy Bill's job one bit. I could build TWO new Linux servers
for what Ipswitch wants for a single SA.
