Responding to several posts and further information. What I am going to post
is my thoughts/opinions/knowledge based on what I have read, those I have
talked to now and in the past, reading between the lines, and my gut
feelings. And believe me, my gut is way too big.

First of all, we all know and understand that Ipswitch really took a turn
for the worse around 3rd quarter of 2004. (It may have even been a little
earlier.) Just prior to that our beloved John Korsak left to pursue other
interests. With that, a new management team was in place at Ipswitch. Part
of the management was Jill Jones. My conversations with her at the time of
ICS introduction left me with a bad taste, albeit one I was able to accept
under my circumstances. That new management team basically turned a deaf ear
to the needs of many us, being ISPs and small to large hosting providers.

Well, it appears that Jill Jones is either no longer with Ipswitch or has
been reassigned to a lesser role and Kevin Gillis is now in charge or major
part of Product Management. I am not sure what his exact title is.

The gist of this is that Ipswitch decided in the second half of 2004 that
they wanted to pursue a different cliental, underestimating the value of
their current client base at that time. In doing so, they alienated many of
us, and lost a lot of business which was not recovered in their new focus
like they thought it would. Now they have a new/revamped management team in
place and have realized the harm that was done and are making progress
towards resolving that. Are they going to win back everyone who left, no.
Are they going to please everyone, no. But they are trying, and they are
listening.

It appears that they are now going to offer Imail in 3 forms: Standalone,
Secure server, and a complete Suite. Each will be offered in 5 levels based
on users: 25, 100, 250, 1000 and unlimited. Personally, I would have like to
seen 100, 250, 1000, 5000 and unlimited. Although I do not know what exactly
the new prices will be for standalone, from what Kevin told me on the phone
while I was driving home I for the most part accept as sensible what the
pricing will be except like I said I feel drop the 25 and add 5000.

So what does my rambling mean?

If you have Imail standalone with/with out a current SA I recommend the
following:
If you have under 100 users, wait for the new SA pricing.
If you have over 1000 users, purchase a Imail Professional SA now.
If you are between those amounts, you could save some money or spend a
little more money if you buy a SA right now.

It also means I will continue to use Imail and offer my support/assistance
to others when I can, continue to offer Imail support services to clients
and once again offer Imail as a possible solution for clients.
