Thanks William for this and for the work u've done with the free URL list.
I invested in Imail originally b/c it was the only thing of its kind (back
in the 3.x-7.x days) and it kicked PostOffice's butt which I migrated from.
I stopped throwing any $ at it aside from mxguard which was pretty much
plug_and_play. If I had the time or remembered much from my unix days I'd
have setup and Imgate by now also.

I'm not sure where I'll go from here, but am fairly certain 7.x was our last
purchase of Imail. I will either keep this running and add freeware spam
apps to it or go with smartermail.

I should also take the time to point out this list has been invaluable in
helping with everything Imail, and so much off topic. Thank u to the guys
still on this list who have helped over the years.

Bryan

Bryan,

I have no plans to dump Imail altogether. At least not right away. Unless
things change drastically, I will likely continue using Imail as a cheap
(already paid for) platform for antivirus scanning (thanks to MxGuard!) and
do some content checks that are simply not feasible at this time to move
elsewhere.

I will basically be using an Imgate/Postfix for initial RBL -REJECTS- (Imail
still has no intention of adding this important functionality to their
software) and some other basic tests like Greylisting and basic tarpitting.
The mail will then be scanned by Imail as a type of secondary gateway, and
then mail will finally wind-up on the actual mail server, which I assume at
this point will be a combo of Courier, Squirrelmail, DSpam (for bayesian
filtering) and Postfix.

I have already converted the URL blacklist to a Postfix compatible regexp
file. I do not have that file publicly available on a regularly-updated
basis yet though. I am most likely going to run everything off of MySQL
eventually, so a bit of work will be needed in making these individual files
easily available for other Postfix users. For anyone who already uses
Postfix/IMGate though, I will be happy to send them a copy of my current
config files, which are basically a combination of config files based upon
IMGate, SecuritySage and a number of other sources, along with my own custom
blacklist and rules. If anyone wants a copy of my current Postfix config
files, feel free to e-mail me off-list.

I am currently running Postfix/IMGate on Debian Linux. I would suggest than
anyone interested in setting up such a gateway see Len's website and ask for
his config files first. Mine basically just expanded upon his. I plan to
keep my URL blacklist free for Imail users indefinitely, as converting the
two file formats between one another is not all that difficult.
