In a recent thread I read that the new web mail client is really a web based IMAP client.  If that's the case I hope that Ipswitch has vastly improved the IMAP service since 8.15hf2.  I have a fairly powerful server but I can't support more than a few concurrent IMAP users.  About four IMAP users will max out the box.  I have verified this on another Imail box as well.

When I had 2006 loaded for a few hours I did notice the CPU load was swinging wildly.  I was not in a position to determine if it was less efficient than previous versions since I couldn't get to iadmin to see what was going on.

Unless I hear that either the web client is not really an IMAP client, or that the IMAP service has been vastly improved I will have to abandon Imail in favor of SmarterMail.  I can't put my server into a 100% CPU load all of the time and limit to only a few concurrent web client users.

I'm hoping to find out the info. posed earlier is wrong!

Right now it seems the most prudent thing to do is nothing.  Don't upgrade.  Imail 2006 is not a stable product.

Subject: [IMail Forum] SMTP 98% Resource Usage - Please Help!

Ever since I upgraded to 2006, I have had issues with both the SMTP and POP services alternating 98% of my server’s CPU usage.  This results in the inability for users to log into their web mail.  Once I restart the services the web mail works fine again for a few hours.  I’ve tried to contact support and was on hold for 2 ½ hours.  I left a message early yesterday morning, but have not heard back.  My server is dedicated to just Imail and has a 2.8 P4 w/ 1GB RAM.  I am running about 150 domains with a total of about 750 users. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Thanks!
Kenneth
