Did your previous
version also have this same behavior? Does the cpu time used by SMTPD
constantly increase in the task manager? Since you installed 2006, what
settings have you changed for SMTPD?
I would start
eliminating settings in STMPD to try and find the culprit. If you
have turned on dictionary attack settings since upgrading, try turning those off
and see if that makes a difference, etc. Let me know if
turning something off makes a difference so we know where to look. Also,
could I see the logs for SMTP when the task manager shows it's constantly eating
resources?
