I have a question regarding this issue that concerns the use of a Disk
Maintenance Utility, or the lack of one. Can anybody recommend a utility
that would perform regular Chkdsk sessions on the HDD to keep them in
Optimum condition, something like Diskeeper, or would it be prudent to shut
down Imail at regular intervals to run the on-board Windows NT disk
Diagnostic.

I have seen this when either the main.mbx was being accessed via POP3
or Web Messaging at the same time or was being written to by another
process at the same time. If you glance through the logs you may see
this type of error more often for other users as well. In those cases the
message is returned to the spool then delivered again on the next attempt.
I have one client that has their POP3 checking every 1 minute. I can search
the log and see where they get the append fail error quite often.
I may be wrong though.....
