Hello Darrell, Good request!
Yes, this is definitely on the "wish list". This will be implemented in WS_FTP Server 6. coming in Q4, 2006 and is slotted for IMail #next major release#. This is currently defined as the following: "The password is at least X (settable by IMail Admin) characters long. Strong Passwords - Contain characters from three of the following four categories: 1) English uppercase characters (A through Z) 2) English lowercase characters (a through z) 3) Base-10 digits (0 through 9) 4) Non-alphanumeric (for example, !, $, #, %). extended ASCII, symbolic, or linguistic characters." There are also variations that we are exploring such as "don't allow the last x (settable) passwords" and also options to "auto expire the password" after X day... comments welcome. bye for now, kg -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of Darrell ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) Sent: Saturday, July 08, 2006 9:20 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [IMail Forum] Strong Password enforcement Everyone knows the users if they had their way would not even use a password. The questions specifically was is there any feature within Imail 2006 that can force users to have strong passwords. No different than what we have to deal with in AD - but fortunately we have some control there. If there is no feature within 2006 I would like to see this request be added to the "wish list". Also, please add "history" to the request - can't use the same password within x days. For information, my idea of a strong password is the following: 12 plus alphanumeric characters with at least 3 letters and 3 numbers and contains no proper words or the user name. 10 plus alphanumeric and special characters with at least 3 of the following 4 items; one small letter, one capital letter, one special character, one number and contains no proper words or the user name. 8 plus alphanumeric and special characters with at least 1 of each the following 4 items; one small letter, one capital letter, one special character, one number John T eServices For You "Seek, and ye shall find!"
