Sorry I was vague in my post. Since they were discussing ASSP I was enquiring about the hardware requirements for those volumes for an ASSP. I am currently in the ASSP forums on Sourceforge looking to see if I can
answer my own question. For those wondering about Imail. We currently run a Dual 2.8 Ghz Zeon with a Gig of Ram and process a total of about 750000 total emails a day. Thanks to Declude andwe only deliver about 64000 of the 650000 or so a day inbound. Our Cpu load averages about 8 to 14% and Ram is typically about 280Mb's to 325Mb's used. FYI. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Kevin Gillis Sent: Friday, December 15, 2006 3:13 PM To: [email protected] Subject: RE: [IMail Forum] Building an ASSP box... Hello Art, This is worth taking a look at - provides some rough guidelines. http://support.ipswitch.com/kb/IM-20060728-JH03.htm Bye for now, kg -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Plato, Art Sent: Friday, December 15, 2006 13:47 To: [email protected] Subject: RE: [IMail Forum] Building an ASSP box... I realize this thread is off OT for Imail, but I was wondering how much hardware it would take to handle 750,000 emails and 5000 mailboxes a day? I'm running it on a 1 GHz dell with 512MB, WIn2K Pro ( not server) handling about 5K messages/day ( this has dropped from when I started this whole project, I suspect lots of spammers aren't even trying anymore, but I can't prove it). I'm using a separate box from my Imail box, but thats only because my Imail box is definitely too small to handle both chores. ( p2-350, 256 MB !!!) Advice is available on the links that someone has already posted. g'luck Royce Burnett At 11:28 AM 15/12/2006 -0600, you wrote: >Has anyone done this? >If so, how is it working & any advice for a newbie on setting one up? >I have a choice of setting it up on a box that has dual 700Mhz CPUs & 1G of >RAM or an Athelon 1500 with 512MB of ram. >Can this run on W2k Pro or does it have to be Win2k Server? >If it catches good mail, is there an easy way to forward on to the intended >recepient, or will it be flagged as spam again? >Thanks for any advice. > > >To Unsubscribe: http://www.ipswitch.com/support/mailing-lists.html >List Archive: http://www.mail-archive.com/imail_forum%40list.ipswitch.com/ >Knowledge Base/FAQ: http://www.ipswitch.com/support/IMail/ >--- >[This E-mail scanned for viruses by Declude Virus] > > > --- [This E-mail scanned for viruses by Declude Virus] To Unsubscribe: http://www.ipswitch.com/support/mailing-lists.html List Archive: http://www.mail-archive.com/imail_forum%40list.ipswitch.com/ Knowledge Base/FAQ: http://www.ipswitch.com/support/IMail/ To Unsubscribe: http://www.ipswitch.com/support/mailing-lists.html List Archive: http://www.mail-archive.com/imail_forum%40list.ipswitch.com/ Knowledge Base/FAQ: http://www.ipswitch.com/support/IMail/ To Unsubscribe: http://www.ipswitch.com/support/mailing-lists.html List Archive: http://www.mail-archive.com/imail_forum%40list.ipswitch.com/ Knowledge Base/FAQ: http://www.ipswitch.com/support/IMail/ To Unsubscribe: http://www.ipswitch.com/support/mailing-lists.html List Archive: http://www.mail-archive.com/imail_forum%40list.ipswitch.com/ Knowledge Base/FAQ: http://www.ipswitch.com/support/IMail/
