That  is  the solution to the roundtrip problem, yes, because 9.x lets
you hard-code a single, matching HELO for your system.

But  I  can't tell you that that is the sole issue you are having with
Verizon; it would, however, qualify as a non-blacklist reason for your
connection  to be dropped (that is, when receiving servers perform the
roundtrip  test,  they  apply  it to all non-exempted servers, so they
would  be  unable  to  look  up  your  IP in any separately maintained
blacklist database to tell you why your connection was dropped).
