Hi, I don't know how others do it but MY backup mail provider simply does a check to see if the recipient is a valid e-mail adres. If they don't get an answer, for instance when my mailserver is down, they will accept all mail, otherwise only if the recipient is known. In my log I see short sessions like: 08:01 00:01 SMTPD(b11f01db00006fbb) [217.114.99.201] connect 217.114.100.110 port 44191 08:01 00:01 SMTPD(b11f01db00006fbb) [217.114.100.110] HELO mx2.virtu.nl 08:01 00:01 SMTPD(b11f01db00006fbb) [217.114.100.110] MAIL FROM:<[EMAIL PROTECTED]> 08:01 00:01 SMTPD(b11f01db00006fbb) [217.114.100.110] RCPT TO:<[EMAIL PROTECTED]> After that my server reports the [EMAIL PROTECTED] e-mail address as valid or not. No "complicated" addresslist synchronisation is needed.
In Declude I have the IP addresses for those backup mailservers in a skip list so all checks will be done as if that mailserver was never in the loop. That includes knowing what all valid addresses and aliases are, plus using the same black lists to reject connections. Are there any KB articles about how to do this with Imail? How do you automatically sync all the settings?
