Thank you, Quentin!
Yes it is a special case.
>> your users should understand that they should unsubscribe via subject
line as if they want to post a message even though they may only want to
type:unsubscribe. <<
Which of course makes no sense. The unsubscribe should work JUST the same -
whether I send the command to ImailSrv or whether I send the subject line to
the list.
You are "parsing" the subject line for "unsubscribe" anyway. It's all a
question of correct TIMING. You should be checking the subject line BEFORE
you validate the poster.lst and password.
After all, the idea of the poster.lst (and the password) is to exercicse
control who can post CONTENT to the entire list. Neither feature are
intended to control who may unsubscribe themselves - e.g., ImailSrv doesn't
require the poster.lst and password EITHER with the unsubscribe command.
The REASON why the unsubscribe subject line is so important is, that it can
be included in a "mailto" link rather than trying to get non-technical users
to properly unsubscribe by sending a properly formatted mail to ImailSrv.
At one time, the problem was worked on by Dave and Cary, under incident
[T2001030800VY], but that was about a month ago.
