Your point is well taken.
I must have read the wrong thread.
I thought the problem was unsubscribing via subject line with passwords and/or posters 
list enabled did not work at all.
I guess now it's just not working the way some of your users want it to.

Normally, mail sent to list-name is intended for list postings by subscribers with the 
right credentials. 
I would say that unsubscribing via subject line is a special case. 
If you have your list set up with password and/or poster list then your users should 
understand that they should unsubscribe via subject line as if they want to post a 
message even though they may only want to type:unsubscribe.

On the other hand, if your list is set up with password and/or posters list with the 
intent that some subscribers will be denied access to post becasue they don't have the 
correct password or is not on the posters list then, they should just send unsubscribe 
command to imailsrv.
This may not help your technical problem but maybe help your users understand.
