Ronnie,
Local delivery is within IMail and does not need DNS, but delivery to
external addresses does need DNS and without it, external email cannot be
delivered. Sounds like a DNS problem, to me! Check the log for when IMail is
attempting delivery to an external address and it will tell more. If you see
'MX fail connect' or 'Stack fail connect' messages, then DNS problems are
the cause.
