now I don't know if your syptms are exactly the same as a problem I started having when a few things happend at once. My imail server would build up the que - but incoming was going. Logs were stack connect fail or mx connect fail messages. a reboot would cure the problem. No other outging services worked either - (strange messages on telnet about no tcp stacks available.couldn't browse the net....etc...)
my dns seemed to be working fine, although I did try my isp's dns to see - no that didn't fix things... the problem was started after the following things 1. i upgraded to imail 7.01 (the first fix to 7) 2. at the same time did a critical update that should never show up for a win2k server on e concerning media player 7.0 or something like that - which should even install on win2k... 3. and I did't notice this till later on after I moved the imail to another box and studied the broke server for awhile...cpu usage was stuck at 50% whilst system idle was saying 99% - no matter what I would shut off.... I found out that my asus motherboard was not "acpi dual cpu compliant" Now this was something that showed up after a certain date - as I know for sure that that cpu usage was normal throughout this machines history. Anyway, I wiped the machine and the bios thing still reared it's ugly head, so I manually swithced to non acpi dual cpu and that problem went away.I installed all my patches, EXcEPT that WM 7 player patch. And put the imail server back on - everything seems fine now although I relay everything through to an IMGate now....so maybe didn't give the problem a chance to come back. sorry for the long post, but it worked in the long run... -- Thanks, Kevin Please visit http://www.ipswitch.com/support/mailing-lists.html to be removed from this list.
