Richard and Rick, Curiosity, what type of switches/hubs were you using (or did you connect them directly to take that out of the picture?) I've talked to several who've had problems with 3ComNics + Cisco Switches (which I've had problems with). When I say problems, it was speed related. Not like going from 100Mb to 90, but rather like going from 100Mb to 128kb. Reboot the PC, it would fly for anywhere between a day and two weeks, then it would just slow down to a crawl. Switching to Intel card fixed it.
If we keep chipping in 2 cents, pretty soon we'll have a dollar! :-) - Tony > -----Original Message----- > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of Rick Davidson > Sent: Thursday, January 17, 2002 5:59 PM > To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > Subject: Re: [IMail Forum] Bad LAN cards (was: iMail is extremely ...) > > > I'll chip in another 2 cents, > I can back up this claim, we use the 3com 905's exclusively, we found the > Intel nics to be noticably slower. > > Rick Davidson > Systems Administrator > Buckeye Internet Services, Ltd. > The cool thing about technology is that it keeps getting cooler. > - > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Richard Wong" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Sent: Thursday, January 17, 2002 5:47 PM > Subject: Re: [IMail Forum] Bad LAN cards (was: iMail is extremely ...) > > > > Hi all, > > > > Here's my 2 cents on 3Com and Intel NIC's: > > > > Our non-scientific tests show that 3Com 905's can outperform > current Intel > > Pro's by about 50%.
