Here is my 2 cents on what I found. Intel server Mother boards with built in Intel 10/100 nic's Running NT with all updates patches and drivers. I found that the throughput of the nic was not what I expected. I now have 6 servers with 3 com 3c905's and Intel on boards. The 3 Com out performs the intel on every NY system. BUT the same mother board running free BSD the intel is blazing fast. Tested with ftp's NT to NT and unix to NT and unix to unix. The intel on NT is always slower than 3com. Go figure. I reported it to intel many times and got no explanation. I use the onboard intel's for a back net where there is only low traffic. Howard
