Licensing is a good point, and we do try to be careful of that.  However,
it's not clear to me that the number of connections (or anything related to
networking) has any relevance when we're using only the DOS scanner on files
stored on the local hard drive.

It's an interesting OT question about licensing.  In general, protecting the
rights of software developers is appropriate, but I've seen a lot of stuff
put into licenses (not to mention the very way in which people "agree" to
licenses) that is questionable.  Unfortunately, it may be a long time before
this stuff gets tested thoroughly in court, or before we have a judiciary
system that understands technology.

The best way to avoid all of these problems with McAfee, of course, is to
pick someone else.  Norton won't work because they don't provide a DOS
scanner.  Are there any other good AV products with command-line scanners?
