Years ago I had a young man recommend the Bat! reader. I
am an old fan of Forte Agent. I thought I could never use
such a silly named reader as The Bat!... but here I am using
it and after using Outlook 2000 I just gave up on it in favor
of this reader. It is much safer as viruses cannot read its
address book and it has its own filter system for email virus
files. I feature that was in Agent and is also The Bat! is
message locking so the message cannot be accidently deleted.
this is also ideal for list reading like this. You can lock the
messages you want, then right click on a folder to mass delete
any unlocked messages (the messages you don't want to read or
keep. I can't tell you how much time this saves. Even when you
mass delete the locked messages will remain.

I went from Agent to Outlook to The Bat! and couldn't be happier.
It runs about 3 to 5 times faster than Outlook and has many more
features. You can download it at: http://www.ritlabs.com/the_bat/

You can also setup the Bat! on a subnet as its own messaging system
not requiring a mail server, so direct PC to PC messaging and mail
lists can be done. This can relieve a mail server of heavy burdens
like attachments and the like.
