I had the problem with any outgoing traffic (not just imail trying to
de-spool messages, telnet, web, ftp all outgoing broke - incoming
connections okay) I had a dual processor system as well, had recently done a
windows update (win2k) and upgraded imail to 7...also looking at my
processors - both always at 50% - turns out my motherboard - and asus, was
not acpi dual processor compliant...I re-installed the os, and changed
processor support to non acpi dual (manually)...
also at the same time a fellow was having the same problem and did the
following see {---}
his name was Vassilis. anyway, I haven't had problems since the re-install,
and what he tried seemed to clear him up.
{---Hello Kevin,
I have some news on the WINSOCK problem I had, and I thought you 'd like to
know:
1. I added a value in the registry (TCP/IP parameters) that enables the
system to use ports above 5000 (I set it to use up to 30000):
Key : HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters
Value: MaxUserPort (REG_DWORD) = 30000 (Decimal)
2. I changed a value in the registry (TCP/IP parameters) that makes the
system release the ports faster (I set it to 120 sec):
Key : HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters
Value: TcpTimedWaitDelay (REG_DWORD) = 120 (Decimal)
3. I changed the web interface port from 8383 to 2000 (below 5000). A
technician from Microsoft suggested it.
After rebooting the system, the problems vanished. I still don't know how,
but it's been over 15 days that the server has been running with no problem.

We had 2 Intel Pro's which Ipswitch said could cause problems so we added a
3Com and disabled the 2 Intel Pro's.
Also one of my support guys has been successful at reproducing the problem
(web messaging not deleting, etc.) just by trying to delete messages by
clicking the little trash can... that may be what is happening on all users.
We have also been able to correct the problem by upgrading the browser to
IE6 on one user but have not tried it on others. The problem does seem to
be something that the Web Messaging is doing to
Can someone else try (on a temp account) clicking the trash can to delete
messages to see if that is what causes the problem for you?

Subject: RE: [IMail Forum] Web messaging problems with dialup users?
Could I ask a question of the people with this web messaging problem where
users cannot delete or move their emails?
We have had this problem since December 2001 and Ipswitch Tech support has
offered no help. But by chance, do most of you have a configuration where
the Imail program is located on one drive and the user mailboxes are located
on another drive?
Also we are running dual processors and dual NIC cards on the machine that
is having this problem. One more thing which may or may not be related,
every 2.3 days or so, our outbound SMTP fails to work..... messages just
build up in the spool. We have to reboot the server to clear the problem. Do
any of you with the web messaging problem noted have (or don't have) the
same problem/configuration?
Your help would be appreciated. If we come up with common configurations in
some way, maybe we can come up with the answer. Thank you in advance.
