I have seen this with other "dial-up" users before. One thing to check is the MTU setting (IP Packet Size on win2k and XP I believe) on the client machines. For dial-up connections this should be set to 576 in most cases. By default the install of the OS will set this up for LAN communications. There are helpful tools available at places like winfiles.com (one is called EZMTU).
