We have a user that is sending mail to a company. When our mail system tries to connect to their mail server we see an "mx connect fail". After checking their dns, telneting to their box, etc., I have found out that their system is down. The question I have, is that after our system attempts to send this message to them and fails, it then tries to send the e-mail using our local system. Obviously this fails (550 - Not local host)because we are not allowing open relaying. I'm just not sure why it tries to send using our system. We are using 7.06 on a win2000 box with no other apparent problems.
