Ok, please indulge me here with an FYI, a question and a rant.

1. FYI - If you are adding a new ODBC host in Imail 7.1 and you have
manually created a View that your host will be based on and there is an
error in the setup of your view, Imail will create its own table with the
same name as the view (don't know how because this is not suppose to be
allowed in MS SQL) HOWEVER there will be no indication as to the error in
your View in your ODBC tracing log. We found this out by adding the host,
deleting the table it created, then we found our error in the view (left of
the "S" in MAXMSGS). Also, the new stock dll for 7.1 attempts to verify the
validity of your view by retrieving the first record (in this case 'root')
with a WHERE clause appended to its SELECT statement. It did not do this in
6.06.

2. QUESTION - does anyone know the bit value to NOT allow access to the
web-calendaring portion of 7.x. It's not in the KB.

3. RANT - I pay a ridiculous amount for an unlimited user tech support
contract and got NADA. Imail's support was great when we bought it and
installed 5.x. Have question get answer. Well, no more. As soon as they
found out we were using a view instead of a table its like "oh, well" don't
know, figure it out. And when I asked about the how to dis-allow web
calender access from the dbase the 'manager' told me to in was in the Type
field. When I explained that the Type field was for users to set their
preferences from web msging he checked and said I was right it was the Flag
field. Then...of course...the next logical question. "What is the bit value
for that, it's not in the manual or the KB" and... the answer "I don't know,
go unset it and check to see what it changed the value to". What stellar
support! Anybody notice they changed their tech support number from a 781
(MA) to 706 (GA). Are they outsourcing it now or something? You know, I
understand if they don't have an immediate answer but the attitude is more
like "let me find a reason to get you off the phone".

Thanks for listening.

David
