this is actually pretty good security >you must be on the posters list" How many times have we said NO headers can't be trusted? The only real list security is moderated, and even the moderator still can't trust the mail from: header, but can only review the msg body as plausible, on-topic, not violating list rules. A type of security that I haven't seen is "self-moderated" where an alleged poster receives a request-for-approval-to-post. Just like double-opt-in/confirm for un/sub, but double-opt-in/confirm for posting. But this would be fairly useless on an Imail discussion list since the Imail list turnaround time is so erratic and/or long. 3+ hours to get my confirm msg back, 3+ hours to get my confirmed msg mailed out.
