>> For a description of how IMail handles overflow (more E-mail than it can handle), see http://www.declude.com/dq.htm . >I'm looking at the \spool folder, and I notice that 2 files every 10 >seconds gets processed/deleted. That's 6 emails per minute! That's >horribly slow, no? Any ideas on why it takes so long to send an email? No, that isn't slow. See the URL above -- it will explain that there is typically 1 process used to send mail that is sitting in the spool directory. If it is dealing with slow servers -- and the "biggies" such as Earthlink and Hotmail are often slow -- it can take a long time to deliver the E-mail. To get an idea of how much quicker it can be, go back, and click the "Send All" button in IMail Administrator (when using "View Queue") about 20 times (yes, click it about 20 times), and see if there is a difference in the speed. Also, I should ask why you are sending 17,000 E-mails individually? You can usually speed up delivery quite a bit by having those 17,000 E-mails sent as 850 E-mails with 20 recipients each. -Scott --- Declude: Anti-virus, Anti-spam and Anti-hijacking solutions for IMail. http://www.declude.com --- [This E-mail was scanned for viruses by Declude Virus (http://www.declude.com)] To Unsubscribe: http://www.ipswitch.com/support/mailing-lists.html List Archive: http://www.mail-archive.com/imail_forum%40list.ipswitch.com/ Knowledge Base/FAQ: http://www.ipswitch.com/support/IMail/
