Isn't George only having problems with web messaging? If so, then it is not
an MS SMTP issues. I was referring to the IIS web server and asking whether
it was running, which would cause problems for IMail's web messaging service
if running on the same port (port 80) as IIS (that is, without doing some
tricky work-arounds).

George,

Ok, but in the IMAIL logs did you see the message you tried to
     send from the web browser?

GWH> I can send an email by clicking on imail1.exe but not when using

That only means that when you are logged in you can send with
imail1. not important for our issue here.

     Normally is SYSTEM.

Not really necessary - the IMAIL folder normally will have
everyone and system with full permissions.

GWH> The event log shows:

Ok - here's what we have to find out:
     1) is a message composed on the web being placed in the IMAIL
queue? Now test this by sending from the web to an outside
address as opposed to a local server address. Send it to me
        if you want.

Now if we see that message in the Queue then that means that
the web server is working fine with IMAIL1 and the problem is
        something else.

If the message is not making it to the Queue then that means
we have a problem with imail1.

     2) If the message is making it to the Queue then I agree with
Bill Landry that you may actually have Microsoft SMTP sever
running on the server under IIS. So check that and make sure
it is turned off or on a different port.

Best wishes,

Terry
