How do i get PTR's on a multi-domain iMail server, without wasting a ton of IP addresses? I've always run the server with just one IP, and just recently started having these problems with the 553's. We've been running this way for over 3 years.
It's fine to have all the domains on one IP, just so long as that one IP has one PTR record (reverse DNS entry). You don't need to have one PTR record for every domain (so you can have 50 domains served by the one IP, but just one reverse DNS entry).
Technically, you can have multiple reverse DNS entries for one IP (and it's amazing how many people do it for no good reason), but there is no known benefit to doing so (every program I've heard of that checks reverse DNS entries only looks at the first one).
