We're running a 233mhz mail server with 128mg of RAM.
Any ideas on the maximum size list that can be supported in this size server?
What size of list(s) do you have in mind?
Looking at it from another POV, no matter what the size of machine is, Imail has a spotty record of delivering lists. For some people it works great, for other they simply cannot get Imail to deliver lists at anywhere near acceptable pefromance. I have had many experiences, as Mr Fixit, with these kinds recalcitrant list servers, and some days, we see 30k deliveries/hour, next day 2k/hour (15 hours to send the list) and sometimes, it can take 3 or 4 days to deliver to a list 600 recipients.
No one, for years, has ever been able to say how to unstick a sticky Imail server and delivery lists realiably.
Another POV is that a 233 MHz / 128 MB machine running a FreeBSD or Linux + Ecartis or MailMain (full-featured, dedicated mailing list managers) + postfix can easily saturate a T-1 with a list delivery. It would help to have a dedicated, second disk of ATA133 for the mailqueue.
