Hi Travis, I'm one of the two developers of SPAMCHK, a free addon for declude junkmail. We've developed this tool to make some content based tests. Here are some examples for what SPAMCHK will look for: -Subjectlines with more the xx spacers -Subjectlines with numeric codes -HTML comments used to hide certain keywords -Tipical keywords in subject, to-adress, x-mailer, body and url's -unreadable from-adresses (like [EMAIL PROTECTED]) -remove-links -image-links Every test can have his own weight, configurable in a ini-file. Additional SPAMCHK can also give negative points for example if the message is greater then xx kbytes. This can help to avoid false positives. The sum of SPAMCHK's internal weighting system is returned to declude so that it can be used in combination with the results of all other tests in declude's weighting system. This will also explain the 3. place in Scott's monthly spam report: SPAMCHK can return a weight from -X to +X. So SPAMCHK will not clearly say "yes I think it's spam: 20 points" or "no it's a legit message: 0 points" The answers are more like "We've found something suspiciuos and give 2 points for this message" or also "We've found a lot of suspiciuos content and give 35 points for this message" Another answer can be "There are a lot of indicators for a legit message: -10 points" So as Scott has stated: The third place for SPAMCHK must not be his real value. Commercial products like Message Sniffer and Spammanager can offer continued automatic updates and their scan engine for sure is more complex and matured then our's.
